Oxfordshire is home to large numbers of wood pigeons, and our hunters achieves some really good results here. Oxfordshire is a classic English farming area with large open fields separated by living hedgerows and small woods, all of which provide an ideal habitat for the pigeons
The number of pigeons can of course vary markedly from week to week. The results of the shoot is dependent on the weather, wind, how the crops are developing this season and not least on the marksmanship skills of the hunter.
Depending on the time of year, the shooting can be over different crops (oilseed rape, spring barley, peas and beans) or over stubble depending on where the pigeons are feeding at the time.
Before the hunters arrive, the local gamekeeper will be doing a lot of work to find out exactly where the best shooting is likely to be. Accommodation is in a nearby pub or bed and breakfast.
The district can accommodate hunters in the spring and from mid July in to September.
